52. Watch the entire list: AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies

I was bored yesterday (what a shocker) and didn't feel like getting any work done, so I busted out The Graduate, courtesy of Netflix. Having not lived under a rock my entire life, I already knew what the story was about (and yes, I've heard the song, too). To be perfectly honest, I figured the movie would be a lot funnier. I do realize that a mere 40 years has passed since the original release of this film, but about 2/3 of the way through the movie it just took a turn for the weird. Since I don't want to kill the movie for anyone that hasn't seen it, I'll leave it at that.

Ultimately, it was an entertaining movie and the soundtrack was awesome, particularly if you like Simon & Garfunkel.

Be respectful to others...but it's okay to lie & cheat

So, I've really stayed away from blogging too much about the Beijing Olympics this year, aside from a very yummy picture of Michael Phelps. But I digress. A dear friend mine, "The Commish", has been keeping up with the Olympics with almost-daily posts so I haven't felt obligated to add any commentary of my own.

Until now.

Usain Bolt, of Jamaica, claimed the gold in both the men's 100 and 200 meter races this week in amazing, world-record-breaking fashion. While his behavior might not have been 100% respectful of the other athletes, it's hard to deny the fact that Bolt is most definitely the fastest man alive. In spite of what outsiders may think of Bolt, many of his fellow athletes have no problem with his "excessive" celebration.

However Jacques Rogge, president of the IOC, feels that his behavior was inappropriate enough to warrant mentioning it in an interview. "That's not the way we perceive being a champion," Rogge said. He basically rips him a new a-hole and calls him immature & disrespectful for his celebration.

So, let me get this straight. It's "not okay" to celebrate your win, but it "is okay" to lie about your age in order to circumvent the system and participate in the Olympics when you're not eligible. Got it.

Olympic Fever

I have to admit that I am so ridiculously excited for the Beijing Olympics to start tonight. The history and emotion that surrounds all the events is always really fun to watch. I can never really decide which event is my "favorite" to watch; there is always something fun about watching gymnastics, but the diving events are always so awesome. I think this year, my eyes are most definitely going to be on swimming. Just the thought that Michael Phelps might break the record to be the Olympic athlete with the most gold medals (EVER) is pretty exciting. Plus, any opportunity to watch him swimming is fine by me.

52. Watch the entire list: AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies

I just got finished watching Sunset Blvd. less than an hour ago, and I couldn't WAIT to post a review. This was probably one of the more entertaining movies off the list that I've watched (so far). There really isn't much to comment on regarding the plot....consider this the original Fatal Attraction, if you will. The story is about a fading movie actress that has gone bat-shit crazy. She's trying to write a screenplay (that she will star in, obviously), to culminate in her return to the big screen. She hires a writer to help - and that's where the hilarity ensues.

The movie also contains one of the most classic movie lines ever: "Alright, Mr DeMille, I'm ready for my close up." Honestly, I did not know that the line had come from this movie, so you can imagine my surprise when it was uttered. BUT, the pose/face of the actress as she uttered this line was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. I literally burst out laughing. Judge for yourself:

See? Bat-shit crazy.
