Is it December yet??

Meh. I always tend to slack off on my blogging when I venture off to Houston. One would think that with 阿婆 & Grandpa clamoring to get their hands on the baby, I would have two free hands with which to type up witty & entertaining blog posts, but no. I find myself sleeping and watching television reading classic literature instead.

The Miller clan just got back from Houston today and our house is a disaster. Once we have a chance to get things back in a little bit of order, I'll be sure to post a legitimate update. We've got lots to talk about: the tooth that decided not to show, a Mommy meet-up in Houston, Turkey Day and hopefully a final update on the Great Room Swap of 2009. Until then...MMT out.

I spy with my little eye.....

Something white that looks an awful lot like a tooth!

Okay so maybe it doesn't look like a tooth just yet, but it feels like a tooth! We woke up this morning & I felt the tiniest little "thing" in Audrey's mouth. Upon closer inspection, it looked like a tiny grain of white sand. I think our S.B.G. is cutting her first tooth!!!

Her temperament has been pretty normal so far, but by this afternoon she became F.U.S.S.Y. Since she didn't really nap that well today we decided to give her an early bath & attempted to put her down early. Her usual bedtime routine didn't cut it and she started to cry pretty hysterically. My usual "go to bed" soothing techniques pretty much fell on deaf ears so we cracked open the Tylenol and within 20 minutes she was finally able to go to sleep.

I'm hoping this tooth cuts pretty quickly & painlessly (for her & for me). Tooth update coming tomorrow!!

5 months old!!

I say it every month...."I can't believe she is XX months old already!" Not that I can believe it, but I feel like I should have something new to say about the fact that, yes indeed, she is getting older.

Welp...she's another month older. Hm. That really isn't all that satisfying.

Seriously. It seems like she really has changed quite a bit in the past month. She hurdled quite a few developmental milestones: rolling over both ways (here and here), laughing and sitting up in the prone position. She absolutely recognizes people now and smiles when she sees familiar faces, and not just because you are smiling at her; she initiates the smiling! She reaches out and grabs for everything; your mouth, nose, hair, her toys, the dogs toys (ew), the dog (he's still not too sure about that one). We've even started to get a good, solid bedtime routine down. While she's still not sleeping all the way through the night, she did self-wean from her pacifier in exchange for her left hand. In a few short weeks she will be an "independent" girl sleeping in her own room. We're still exclusively breastfeeding and we're thinking about starting solids soon. She's still not showing all the readiness signs for solids, but I have no doubt that she will be there pretty quick.

All in all she continues to be a happy, healthy little girl and we are so thankful to have her in our lives. S.B.G., we love you lots!!

me = slacker

I feel like I've been falling behind on my blogging lately. Things have been ridiculously crazy in the Miller household and by the end of the day, all I really want to do is sleep spend time with my husband. I spent all of last week in Houston for work and to let Audrey get in some good, quality 阿婆 & Grandpa time. A quick jaunt back to Austin this week has been filled with laundry, more work & the preparation of Audrey's room.

That's right, folks, Audrey is getting her own room. We have flip-flopped around on whether or not we would stay in this house long enough to warrant painting & decorating a nursery, but ultimately the finances have won out. We're going to do some room switch-a-roos but little Miss Audrey is going to have her own room shortly after Thanksgiving. We'll still have some decorating to do, but I've got my eye on some fun stuff for the walls so it shouldn't be too difficult to pull together.

We're packing up the entire family again this weekend and headed back to Houston for Turkey Day. It's going to be a week filled with family & food - I wouldn't dare have it any other way.

On another note...Audrey is 5 months old today (!!). She's sleeping soundly in her crib (shhh!) so check back later for updated pictures!

a week filled with milestones

What an exciting and overwhelmingly awesome week for me & my S.B.G. (sweet baby girl). I would have been happy enough had just one of these occurrences taken place, but she wanted to make Mommy happy and just knock it out of the park. Not only did I get laughing and rolling over but she had to prove to me yet again that not only is she one of the coolest kids ever but she's also not a tiny baby anymore. (Insert sad face, here.)

I absolutely love how happy she looks in this picture. She is so proud of herself that you just can't help but smile back. Me loves.

I'm a Proud Momma!

Our sweet baby girl rolled over (back to front) today for the very first time....

....and I missed it because I had to go in to the office today. :: sob ::

Fortunately, she had plenty of practice with 阿婆 (Grandma) and Jean 姨婆 (Great Aunt Jean) so she was ready & rearin' to go by the time I made it home. The camcorder was not being nice today, but my trusty iPhone came to the rescue.

Laughing! On Tape!!

So I blogged 6 weeks ago little Miss Audrey had let out a chuckle. I must have been lying because since that day she failed to give a repeat performance. No amount of funny faces, silly songs and/or tickling would induce more than a ridiculously cute smile. Until today. I give you....AUDREY LAUGHING!

It's a sign of the times....

We got a new dishwasher installed today & it was the highlight of my day.

I am officially getting old.

Editor's note: I meant to post this yesterday (Tuesday), but I forgot to hit "Publish." I was too busy heading out for an impromptu night of adult beverages with my girls. The mojitos called an I went running.

Happy Halloween!!

I realize that I'm a day late (but not a dollar short) on this one. Last week was the work week from HELL and it took me a couple days to pull my head out of the sand.

I realized on Friday that it was the day before Halloween and we still hadn't taken Audrey to a pumpkin patch for the obligatory "picture-in-front-of-pumpkins" that all the other moms do. I was already heading out to have lunch with some friends, so I decided to hit up a local church to snap a couple pictures. I guess it was poor planning on my part because Audrey was not having any of it. I should have gone before lunch since she was starting to get tired/cranky by the time we finally made it to the church. Also, since Audrey still isn't sitting up unassisted, I probably should have brought another set of hands. My friend Erin came with but since she was busy wrangling her son, it was pretty tough to position Audrey & take cute pictures. We did manage to get a couple pictures, but they're not great by any stretch of the imagination.

I can't allow a blog post to end with some not-so-great pictures, so here are a couple cuties. Audrey modeling the "Baby's First Boo" shirt that 阿婆 got her & a ridiculously cute picture of a super happy little girl:

reason #1 it sucks having an infant

They don't understand the concept of enjoying the extra hour of sleep courtesy of "fall back" for daylight savings time.

I'm already tired & sleep-deprived courtesy of my daughter. I love her more than life itself, but I really miss sleeping more than 4 consecutive hours. The dark circles under my eyes are starting to look like that black crap football players wear to block out the glare. My bed beckons me every time I walk into the bedroom. Hell - any flat surface seems appealing at this point. But I sacrifice and forge ahead because she's too young to know the difference. I wake up rise from my nap at 7am because that's when she is ready to get the day started.

And then daylight savings time ends. My cute little bundle of joy woke up at her "normal" time, but because she didn't get the memo that we are gifted with an extra hour today it was actually 6am. Awesome.

It's going to be a LONG day.
