"Because It's My Birthday!!"

I had a birthday last Friday and was lucky enough to already be in Houston (for work) so I was actually able to celebrate it with my parents this year. My mom always gets sentimental on my birthday, counting down each hour of the day ("exactly 28 years ago I was starting to feel contractions....exactly 28 years ago I was screaming for the epidural..."). Miller also was in town because I made him be here -- shoot, he is my husband!

I had been telling my mom about the greatness of yellow cake with chocolate frosting so she promised to make one for my birthday. She did not disappoint. It was delish. I wish I had an actual picture of the cake she made, but we ate it a little too quickly for the camera. Oops.

In keeping with the yellow-theme, a very nice delivery man showed up at our door with a beautiful bouquet:

Since my parents moved to Sugar Land a couple years ago, we really don't get to take advantage of the fresh seafood out of the Gulf too often. Since my birthday just happened to fall on a Friday this year, we decided to make the "long" trek to the Kemah Boardwalk to get fresh seafood. It honestly had been about 2+ years since I've been to Kemah, so you can imagine my surprise when we got there and I saw a ROLLER COASTER! We made it through dinner (yum), saw a fireworks show (on my birthday!), and I dragged Miller over to the Boardwalk Bullet to buy tickets. He kept asking me why I was so adamant about riding it, and my only response was, "because it's my birthday!" Secretly, I was looking forward to this:

97. Ride a roller coaster

I think that was the best birthday gift of all -- being able to cross off a 101 goal on my actual birthday. The ride was surprisingly thrilling and I tried to snap some cool pics mid-ride but they all came out a little lot blurry. Here's the only good picture I took of Miller & I on our way up:

Overall - it was a great birthday. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Sounds like a fun time! I always enjoy Kemah's boardwalk stuff.

And yay for crossing something off your list, that is a huge plus!

1. Yellow cake with chocolate icing in my DHs favorite, too!

2. WHAT A BIRTHDAY! Fresh seafood, cool place, cake and WHAM you drop the fireworks and rollar coaster on us?! That's amazing!

3. I can't believe you just randomly got to ride a rollar coaster and ON your birthday! What are the odds it would be on your list and them you would just "run into" a rollar coaster one night?!? LOL that's awesome!
