I really should *promise* things I can't deliver. Such a bad habit. And I don't really have an excuse, either. Unless you call sheer laziness a good excuse. Oh, you do? Awesome.
This past weekend we took our first mini-vacation as a family of three with some friends & their son/Audrey's future husband. We loaded up our cars to the brim and headed down the Texas coast to Port Aransas. After a pretty painless drive, we arrived at our condo and immediately relished in the amazing view:We spent the rest of the first afternoon hanging out at the hotel pool and then went out for an AMAZING seafood dinner. Then we put the babies to bed (WAY past their bedtime...I think it was almost 9:30!) and the grownups spent the rest of the evening enjoying the Gulf breeze and cold beers on the patio.
The next morning we all had to contend with a Fantasy Football draft so the babies enjoyed a leisurely breakfast/independent playtime while we all huddled around our computers. After what seemed like an eternity, we FINALLY got our business together to head down to the beach. Audrey's wonky bedtime from the day before & the fact that it was her naptime meant that she wanted absolutely nothing to do with the beach. No.Thing. All attempts to introduce her to the sand and/or surf were met with whines & frustration. We gave up. We all headed back to the room (it was lunchtime anyways) and one by one we dropped like flies for an afternoon nap. 3 hours later...the babies were rested & re-charged and it was back down to the pool for a quick dip before dinner. We headed out to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner (they have the.best. fried shrimp) and we actually managed to get a group shot of all 6 of us. Nevermind that Audrey looks like she has a uni-brow.
And because I love them...

Sunday morning (our last day. BOO.) we headed out the door for some last minute beach time before we had to pack up and head home. The beach was met with the same trepidation as the day before but a quick cat-nap on the beach towel, Audrey finally decided to enjoy the sand.

It was a GREAT trip. We had an amazing time with the P family and couldn't be prouder of how S.B.G. handled it all. We were initially worried about how "vacation time" would disrupt her sleeping schedule and she handled it like a champ. It was a great way to cap the almost-end-of-summer and can't wait to do it again.
Audrey is 1 year, 2 months & 6 days old
